Baby Giant Explosion

We have officially entered baby bunny explosion mode here at Fuzzy Vaughn Farm. The nest boxes are busy, the babies are growing, and the barn is full of those sweet little fuzzy faces that make all the hard work worth it.

This is something that comes up often, especially when working with rare breeds and rare colors. Sometimes, when the gene pool is small and the goals are big, we have to think carefully about how to move forward. For me, that has meant learning when and how an outcross can help bring in the traits I need, such as better color, stronger body type, wool density, and the pieces needed to move toward more quality-colored Giant Angoras.

I shared a bit of my own story and how I am moving forward on the path to more colored Giant Angoras, with a special focus on Chocolate Agouti Giant Angoras. This color project has my whole heart right now, and I am excited to keep sharing the journey as these babies grow and as future litters arrive.
